This is a set of standards, identified by the symbol Euro-followed by a number, which will be progressively introduced by the European Community, the characteristics of increasingly restrictive regarding vehicle emissions, measured in g / kWh for heavy goods vehicles and in g / km for other vehicles.

 

They are all Euro 0 vehicles manufactured before the introduction of the euro, and so before the December 31, 1992.

 

They are all Euro 1 for petrol vehicles registered after 1 January 1993, because by law must comply with the rules listed below. Euro are a petrol-engined vehicles registered before 1 January 1993 if they meet the following standards:
- 83/351 EC ref. 91/441 EC
- 88/77 EC ref. 91/441 EC
- 88/436 EC ref. 91/441 EC
- 89/458 EC
- 91/441 EC
- 91/542 EC point 6.2.1.A
- 93/59 EEC with catalyst

 

Euro 2 vehicles are registered after 1 January 1997 meet the following standards:
- 94/12 EC
- 96 / 1 EC
- 96/44 EC
- 96/69 EC
- 98/77 EC
- 91/542 point 6.2.1.B

 

They are Euro 3 vehicles registered after 1 January 2001 that meet the following standards:
- 98/69 EC
- ref 98/77 EC 98/69 EC
- 99/96 EC
- 99/102 EC ref. 98/69 CE
- 2001 / 1 EC ref. 98/69 CE
- 2001/27 EC
- EC 2001/100 phase A
- 2002/80 EC phase A
- 2003/76 EC phase A

 

Euro 4 vehicles are registered after 1 January 2005, if either of the following respect (only if the reference directive reads the letter B):
- 98/69/EC B
- 98/77/EC ref. 98/69/EC B
- 1999/96 EC B
- EC 1999/102 B ref. 98/69/EC B
- 2001 / 1 EC
- EC 2001/100 B
- 2002/80 EC B
- 2003/76 EC B

They are Euro 5 vehicles registered after 1 September 2009, where respect of the following standards:
- 1999/96/EC Line B2
- 1999/96/EC Row C (ECOL. IMPROVED)
- 2001/27/EC, 1999/96/EC Riga REF B2
- 2001/27/EC, 1999/96/EC Riga REF C (ECOL. IMPROVED)
- 2005/79/EC 2005/55/EC RIF Riga B2 (Euro 5)
- 2005/79/EC 2005/55/EC Riga REF C (ECOL. MILES.)
- 2006/51/EC 2005/55/EC RIF Riga B2 (Euro 5)
- 2006/51/EC 2005/55/EC Riga REF C (ECOL. MILES.)

 

Euro 6 is the name of a set of European standards on emissions will apply to new road vehicles sold in the European Community in 2014.
